About Ellie Grand Rapids

Ellie Family Services Grand Rapids clinic is conveniently located just SW of the intersection of Hwy 2 and 169 just east of the Blandin Paper Company.

We may be new to the area, but our staff here are not- all of our therapists are from, and live in, the Grand Rapids area. Community is something we value (A LOT!), and we believe that our care is much more effective when our providers are most invested in the wellness of their own families, neighborhoods and cities.

We believe that taking care of one’s mental health is a critical part of self-care. We have created an office space that is designed to be comfortable, inviting and safe. We want to welcome you in as you allow our therapists to be a part of your life’s journey. Come meet our amazing team of therapists who are down-to-earth, passionate about helping, creative, and love to laugh too.

Our therapists believe that good mental health care is based on solid, trusting relationships and so we try and show up as authentically as possible.

We also have a great group of amazing providers who offer Psychiatric Medication Management (via telehealth).

I am fascinated with the power of the mind and its ability to heal given the right support, desire, and resources.

I am excited to work at Ellie because Ellie does not present as another “stuffie” mental health clinic. They have a fresh and innovative approach that caters to both staff and patients.

Taking the step to reach out for help is a big deal. I know all too well the stigma attached to seeking help for mental health struggles. I pride myself on holding a very safe, calming and warm space for my clients to receive the help they need. I take time to really get to know them on a personal level, and ensure they’re ready before diving into any tough stuff.

I would say I’m a laid back therapist who doesn’t follow any scripts. I try to always maintain awareness of my clients comfort level and stay highly attuned to their needs. I often remind myself that I might be the only person in my clients life that is able to hear and hold their pain… I don’t take that responsibility lightly. My techniques change depending upon each client’s personality, level of engagement and mood on any given day.

I completed my Masters of Clinical Social Work at The College of St. Scholastica, with a focus on children from birth to age 5 and their families. My work often engages a caregiver or other relational partner in the therapeutic process. I practice mindfulness and somatic awareness in some way within all my sessions but specialize in DC 0-5, EMDR, Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Child Parent Psychotherapy. I also received intensive training in the field of Integrated Behavioral Health. I am committed to connecting my clients health related conditions + habits with their symptoms + diagnosis. This means I strive to bridge the divide between all of the providers in my clients world as well as make referrals for needed services in an effort to create a comprehensive care team that provides the most client centered care possible.

I have a personal interest in working with teen parents, those involved in the foster care system, as well as families touched by adoption. My happiness and fulfillment as a therapist is in walking alongside my clients on their journey to find healing + renewed joy in their lives.

My ideal client is someone who is motivated to engage in the therapeutic process. I do my best to create an environment that is relaxed and non-judgmental. I meet people and accept them where they are and love injecting humor into my sessions.

My specialties include: Anxiety, Depression, FASD, Adoption, and Addiction

I generally draw from a few different theories, including CBT, DBT, and some components of Somatic Experiencing, as well as others. I believe in the mental health benefits of exercise, nature, and mindfulness and encourage people to engage in those practices.
